# Expenses

Expenses within HardwAIre DAO are categorized into two main types:

### **Mandatory Expenses**

These are essential costs associated with the **operation and maintenance of GPU hardware infrastructure**. This includes power costs, hardware replacements, server upkeep, and any technical maintenance required to ensure optimal hardware performance.

### **Community Decisions**

These are expenses or investments proposed and approved through **community governance votes**. Examples include:

* Investing in promising AI projects.
* Funding community-led initiatives such as hackathons and research grants.
* Supporting ecosystem tools and partnerships that drive DAO growth.
